I worked on a mass mailing for a client I setup with a Catalook store a number of years ago.
The client sells software packages for micro-device development and about twice a year releases a new version. Each release they have me do a mass mailing to all of the previous clients who have bought the products and offer them a variety of discounts.
Thus ensues several hours of data-mining, massaging, coupon code generation, coupon code retrieval setup (a custom built module I built that allows users to enter in a value and a corresponding value is returned. In this case they put in their email and get their coupon code), and finally the setup and sending of the emails.
This might sound tedious to some, but I find that I really enjoy it. Long ago, while in college, I took a class on SQL and while the other students complained and moaned I found myself in data-mining heaven. I loved it! If you are looking for someone to help you with your Catalook setup, or, especially, if you are looking for someone to get at the heart of your information. Please do not hesitate to ask.

I've done a bit of work with Catalook, unfortunately I have not found it as enjoyable. Coding-yes, SQL-absolutely, but I can't put Catalook and fun in the same sentence :] I'm glad you are having good success with it!

Catalook can have a bit of a learning curve, but I never cease to be amazed of what you can do with it. It takes time though. Once you get a few Catalook sites under your belt it gets much easier and therefore much more fun.

I've spent too many late nights - to early mornings with Catalook to use the word "fun". I think on with the other Ryan on this one.

Looksl like the Ryans are in agreement. :)
Catalook can be really tough to setup for sure. But the reward is in the end product. Having a working online store though is really FUN!
